Esquissé – The cult party game blending drawing and Chinese Whispers
The goal isn't to draw well, but to understand each other... or not!
In Esquissé, each player starts with an erasable notebook, a marker, and a secret word. The principle is cyclical: you draw your word, then you pass your notebook to your neighbor. They look at your drawing, turn the page, and write what they think they saw. The next neighbor then has to draw that new word... and so on until the notebooks return to their original owners.
The cult moment? The final reveal. That's when you discover how a "Sandcastle" became a "Pizza," then a "Ninja Turtle," only to end up as a "Nuclear Explosion."
A foolproof "Creative Chaos" mechanic
-
Zero Talent Required: It's often funnier when players draw badly. Misinterpretations are the game's driving force.
-
Total Simultaneity: Everyone plays at the same time. There are no downtimes, you don't watch others play, we're all in on the action.
-
Practical Material: Spiral notebooks and erasable markers are designed for quick handling. You draw under the pressure of a sand timer (optional for more stress!).
-
The (Optional) Scoring System: You can count points (if the final word matches the initial word), but honestly, 99% of players don't care: the pleasure is in discovering the absurd journey.
Why Esquissé is the king of parties?
-
Universality: Children, parents, grandparents... Everyone can play together instantly.
-
Ultimate Icebreaker: Perfect for starting a party with people who don't know each other very well yet.
-
Guaranteed Laughter: The misunderstandings are often so improbable that they become inside jokes that last all evening.
-
