Draw the landscape, rule the land!

In Carcassonne, players develop the area surrounding the famous French medieval city. Each turn, you draw a tile representing a piece of landscape (a road, a city, an abbey, or a field) and place it to expand the common map. But the real question is: will you place one of your followers (the famous Meeples) on it to take control and score points?

The goal of the game? Accumulate the most victory points by completing roads, cities, and abbeys before the last tile is placed.

Precise "Follower Placement" mechanics

Carcassonne's genius lies in managing your limited resources:

  • The Meeple Dilemma: You only have 7 followers. If you place them all on long-term projects (a huge city), you won't have any left to score easy points on small roads. A placed meeple only returns to your hand when the construction is finished!

  • The Art of Stealing (or Merging): You cannot place a meeple on an already occupied city. But you can place a tile next to it and try to merge two cities to share points... or eject your opponent!

  • The War of the Fields: Peasants (meeples lying in the grass) are only counted at the very end of the game. They can bring in a lot, but they monopolize your followers throughout the game. It's the final poker move!

  • Total Scalability: The base box now often includes the "The River" and "The Abbot" mini-expansions to vary game starts.

Why Carcassonne remains timeless?

  • Universal Accessibility: You can play it with children as young as 7 (ignoring peasants at first) or among bloodthirsty experts.

  • Satisfying Aesthetics: At the end of the game, you contemplate a unique and magnificent map that you have created together.

  • Hidden Depth: Beneath its peaceful puzzle appearance, it's a formidable game of blocking and probability calculation at a high level.

  • A Universe of Expansions: If you get bored, there are over 10 major expansions (Inns & Cathedrals, Traders & Builders, etc.) to complexify the game.
