Gwent – The Witcher Card Game
Lead your armies to victory in Geralt of Rivia's universe
Initially discovered in the adventures of the Witcher, Gwent is a dueling game where two generals clash on a battlefield divided into several rows (Melee, Ranged, Siege). It's not just a game of brute force; it's a game of sacrifice and cunning: knowing when to lose a round to better win the war is the key to success.
The goal of the game? Win two out of three rounds by accumulating more strength points than your opponent on the board.
A war of numbers and strategy
Gwent relies on unique mechanics that set it apart from other card games:
-
Strict Hand Management: You receive your cards at the beginning of the game and must make them last for all three rounds. If you play everything too quickly, you'll have nothing left for the end!
-
Three Fronts of Combat: Place your units on the close-combat, archery, or siege weapon rows. Certain weather cards can paralyze an entire row.
-
Iconic Factions: Choose your side from the Northern Realms, the Nilfgaardian Empire, Monsters, or the Scoia'tael. Each faction has a unique leader ability.
-
Bluffing and Passing: Knowing when to stop ("pass") is crucial. Forcing your opponent to play their best cards for an unimportant round is an art you'll need to master.
Why is Gwent a must-have for fans?
-
Total Immersion: Experience the dark, medieval atmosphere of the saga with faithful and magnificent illustrations.
-
Tactical Depth: Unlike many card games, there's very little room for chance. Your victory depends on your ability to anticipate.
-
Perfect Balance: Each faction has its strengths and weaknesses, offering varied and constantly renewed duels.
-
A Collector's Item: For any fan of Geralt of Rivia, owning a physical Gwent deck is the ultimate Witcher experience.
