Fil Rouge: The Shadow of the Tiger – The Cooperative Narrative Investigation Game
Unravel the story... without saying a word!
In Fil Rouge, players are presented with a series of beautifully illustrated cards, each depicting a fragment of a story. The problem? They are all mixed up. Your mission is to put them back in chronological order to understand what really happened. But beware: in The Shadow of the Tiger, the plot is winding and details often conceal the truth.
The concept? A cooperative "sleuth" game where communication happens through images to reconstruct a coherent narrative timeline.
An innovative "Visual Timeline" mechanic:
-
Limited Exposure: Each player holds a portion of the cards in their hand. You cannot show them to others! You must describe what you see (a detail on clothing, a shadow, an expression) to see if it matches your partners' cards.
-
The Common Thread: Cards are placed one by one on the table to form a timeline. If you place a card incorrectly, the "thread" breaks, and you lose valuable victory points.
-
High-Precision Observation: This is not an action game. It is a game of calm and concentration. A small object in the background of a card can be the key to knowing whether this scene happens before or after another.
-
"The Shadow of the Tiger" Scenario: This chapter offers a strong detective/thriller atmosphere, with a polished aesthetic reminiscent of film noir or Asian investigative cinema.
Why is Fil Rouge a unique experience?
-
Zero Rules (or almost): You open the box and play. The mechanics are so intuitive they fade into the background, allowing the story to take center stage.
-
Silent Cooperation: The game fosters strong mutual listening and attention. You don't play against the game; you merge your perspectives to understand.
-
Replayability: Like a good suspense film, once you've understood the story, you can't "un-discover" it. But it's an excellent game to introduce to your friends, watching them struggle (kindly)!
-
Pocket Size: A small box containing a big narrative adventure, easy to take anywhere.
