Celestia – The Game of Atmosphere, Bluffing and Risk-Taking
Captain, do we brave the storm or do I jump?
In Celestia, you play as adventurers aboard an airship exploring celestial cities. At each stage, one player becomes the Captain and must face the dangers of the journey (clouds, lightning, killer birds, or pirates) by using the cards in their hand. The passengers, meanwhile, must make a crucial decision: trust the captain and stay on board to reach more distant cities... or disembark to secure the treasures of the current city.
The goal of the game? Be the first adventurer to accumulate 50 treasure points. The more distant the city, the more precious the treasures!
A Collective "Push Your Luck" Mechanic
The game relies on constant psychological tension:
-
The Captain's Challenge: The captain rolls the danger dice. They must then play the corresponding cards to continue the journey. If they fail, the airship crashes and no one wins anything!
-
The Passengers' Dilemma: Before the captain plays their cards, each passenger announces whether they are staying or getting off. This is where the bluff begins: "Don't worry, I have everything I need in hand..." (Spoiler: that's not always true).
-
Power Cards: Special cards allow you to spice up the game: forcing a passenger to get off, re-rolling dice, or even saving the ship at the last moment.
-
The "Wow" Material: The 3D cardboard airship, where you actually place your pawns, gives an immediate magical and immersive dimension.
Why is Celestia a guaranteed success?
-
The Tabletop Atmosphere: It's a game of discussions, laughter, and teasing. "I told you he was bluffing!" is the phrase you'll hear most often.
-
Magnificent Art Direction: Gaétan Noir's illustrations are sublime and transport players into a dream world.
-
Simple and Fast: A game lasts 30 minutes, and the rules are explained in a flash, making it the perfect game for families and aperitifs.
-
Evolutive: There are expansions (The Helping Hand, The City of Light) that add characters and new challenges.
